This motto expresses itself in the symbols depicted on the shield – shaped school seal.
The cross stands for God and His “Message of salvation” as taught by His Son Jesus, the “ultimate model and teacher.” Independence Hall symbolizes our great country and its founding principles of God-given rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Its architecture----dome and spire----inspired the upper structure of Saint Joseph School. This houses the Church bell, which three times daily proclaims the true freedom of our Catholic Faith. The Lily signifies Saint Joseph----model of purity, fidelity, gentleness, wisdom, and diligent industry.
Mission StatementThe mission of St. Joseph School is to prepare our children to become Christian models of leadership who will service family, community and church. While integrating the spiritual dimensions of our Catholic faith with academic guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, St. Joseph School calls for nurturing of Christian values, learning, personal development, and the reverence for all peoples as unique creations of God. With this sound foundation, students are encouraged to strive for and reach their maximum capabilities as educated, Christian witnesses of Jesus Christ.
PhilosophyThe purpose of Saint Joseph School is two – fold: religious and academic. Saint Joseph School believes its religious nature is firmly rooted in the educational mission of the church. Therefore, we are committed to faithfully transmitting the message of salvation as taught by Jesus Christ and contained in the Gospel. Saint Joseph School provides a balanced curriculum that identifies the education of the whole person as its primary goal. Within a diverse yet structured framework, the academic, intellectual, physical, personal, and social aspects of a student’s development are fostered by religious instruction. Our school is staffed with many dedicated lay faculty members, they view the children as social beings who strive to learn respect for others, to form stable relationships with their peers and authority figures, and to discover their role as reliable American citizens. We endeavor to develop a Christian character of mutual respect, cooperation, good citizenship, personal accountability, and refinement in manner, speech and dress. School Links School Notes.com -
